Nancy's artistic journey began with studying art at the University of Illinois and the Maryland Institute of Art. She honed her skills under the guidance of numerous well-known watercolor artists over the years. However, her passion for painting took a backseat when she fell in love with alpacas. For 23 years, Nancy dedicated herself to raising, breeding, showing, and even buying and selling these unique creatures. Initially known as Alpine Alpacas in Colorado, she later partnered with friends to form the Gray Alpaca Company in Maryland.
After retiring from her alpaca ventures, Nancy has returned to her first love of painting full time. Alpacas still hold a special place in her heart, and she often incorporates them into her artwork, whether they belong or not. These tiny hidden alpacas can be found grazing or in head profiles within her paintings. Nancy's artistic style has evolved from realism to more free, atmospheric, emotion-packed, and sometimes abstract pieces. With a broad range of styles, she hopes there is something for everyone to connect with in her artwork.
Nancy describes herself as a work in progress, always striving to grow and evolve as an artist. One of her favorite quotes from Gandhi, "Live like you will die tomorrow; learn like you will live forever," resonates deeply with her. For those looking to add a touch of Nancy's unique style to their home or office decor, her prints are available for purchase. Each piece showcases her love for alpacas and her passion for watercolor painting.
