Tony Abbey

Growing up, the artist was heavily influenced by their father, who was self-taught and skilled in composition and perspective. With a father who worked as a cameraman for the BBC, the artist and their sibling spent their childhood painting competitively, using the reverse sides of script paper brought home by their father to draw endlessly. While their brother pursued a successful career as a graphic artist, the artist chose a different path as an engineer, but never lost their love for sketching, drawing, and oil painting as a hobby.

After some time away, the artist was able to return to oil painting and found immense joy in immersing themselves fully in their art. The challenge of capturing landscapes, figures, and a variety of subjects was exhilarating, with each painting serving as a learning experience that deepened their understanding of the artistic process. They relished the physicality of brushwork in oils and embraced a loose approach, focusing on shapes and colors rather than intricate details.

In contrast to the free-flowing nature of oil painting, the artist also found solace in pencil sketching, both in monochrome and color, which allowed for a more precise definition and a change of pace. Overall, they found the entire artistic process to be incredibly enjoyable and hoped that others would find as much pleasure in viewing their work as they did in creating it. For those looking to add a touch of artistic flair to their home or office decor, the artist's prints are available for purchase.
