Growing up in Northern Ireland during the tumultuous 1970s and 80s, Nina's passion for art was ignited at a young age. She pursued her artistic dreams by attending The University of Ulster, where she graduated in 1996 with a BA focused on textiles. This early focus on textiles laid the foundation for her current work as an oil painter.
Today, Nina's love for textiles has seamlessly transitioned into a love for working with oil paint. She appreciates the medium's capacity for layering, creating texture, and subtle variations in color. Her work reflects the muted colors of the British Isles where she grew up, as well as the rugged weathered surfaces common to her homes in Texas and Tennessee in recent years. Her faith also plays a significant role in her art, with pieces of text often incorporated as unearthed treasures in her compositions.
Currently residing in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her husband and a pack of Irish Wolfhounds, Nina's work can be found in private collections in both Europe and the United States. Her art has also been featured in 'The Book of the Dog' by Angus Hyland and Kendra Wilson. To bring a piece of Nina's unique and textured artwork into your home or office, consider purchasing prints for a touch of sophistication and elegance.
