Denise Gonyea Durak

Born and raised in the Detroit Metro area of the United States, the artist eventually settled in the Greater Chicago Area, which they now call home. Living with their husband of many years, they have raised two children who also work and live in the area with families of their own. With a father who was a design engineer and a mother who was an accountant, the artist grew up exposed to the arts and developed a love for Abstract Expressionism in the early 60's. Their background in Fine Arts led to their work being publicly displayed during college, before pursuing a professional career as a Doctor of Psychology.

Embracing both photography and abstract painting with acrylic and mixed media, the artist has been fortunate to study under seasoned painters, allowing for continued guidance and inspiration. Their art is mostly nuanced in the style of Abstract Expressionism, with occasional photography in their collections. Inspired by nature, particularly botanicals, the artist's original artwork is often displayed in their own home or in the homes of friends and family. As a result, limited edition prints of their work are available in various sizes on museum quality archival papers or canvas.

With representation in several juried virtual national and international art galleries, as well as a presence at local art fairs, the artist is passionate about sharing their painterly style with others. While painting for pleasure, they are also happy to sell their artwork to those who appreciate their work. For those interested in adding a touch of Abstract Expressionism or nature-inspired photography to their home or office decor, limited edition prints of the artist's work are available for purchase.
