Born in Kansas City, MO, Kat's artistic journey began at a young age when her family relocated to San Carlos, CA. Inspired by the fashion catalogues her father brought home from his job at Vogue Fashion Marketing in NY, she dreamt of becoming a high fashion designer. Spending hours sketching models, she fell in love with line and form, which continued to influence her art throughout her school years and into adulthood.
After taking a break from art to focus on raising her two boys and working in the Silicon Valley electronics industry, Kat resumed her education in her mid-20’s. Studying art history, painting, sculpting, and design at a local college reignited her passion for creating. She eventually started her own business printing her original pen & ink drawings on glass and shirts, before returning to painting in 2009.
Kat's work, which has garnered her multiple awards, is now collected worldwide. While she has experimented with abstract expressionism in various mediums, she has found her niche in oil painting in the contemporary realism style.
