Hi, I’m Katie Garner and I’m excited to share my work with you.
Art has always been an important part of my life. I received a BFA in oil painting from WSU in 1996 then went on to work at UW designing, coding and maintaining web sites for the Evans School of Public Affairs.
When my first child arrived, I left the Evans School to be a full-time mother. In the whirl of family life, my art focus shifted to my children’s creative endeavors. It wasn’t until my oldest was in middle school that I began to paint for myself again.
I started working with acrylics, which offered many of the things I love about oils as well as fun new possibilities. With experimentation and time, I’ve found my voice in the medium. I’m really enjoying painting!
For me inspiration comes from light, color, and texture. It could be the simple beauty of a flower I found along the way, or a landscape that invites me to think, “what if.’ I love creating art that is fun and beautiful as well as thought-provoking pieces with deeper layers of meaning.
I hope you enjoy my work. Thank you for visiting.
