Born and raised in Utah, Alex G Platt discovered his passion for drawing at a young age. After receiving the Art Sterling Scholar Award in High School, he pursued his love for art by studying Graphic Design and Illustration at Salt Lake Community College. It was during this time that he found his true joy in painting portraits, a passion that continues to drive his work today.
Inspired by artists such as James Gurney, Marc Dalessio, John Berkey, and Michael Malm, Alex has honed his craft under the mentorship of esteemed individuals like Rob Adamson, Tom Howard, and his close friend Lester Lee. With a strong foundation in traditional painting techniques, Alex transitioned to digital painting and design for his commissioned work, creating a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from landscapes to family portraits and mascot illustrations.
In the Spring of 2019, Alex and his wife embarked on a freelancing art and design career, focusing primarily on commissioned oil paintings of people and pets. As the pandemic brought challenges, Alex adapted by exploring the potential of digital paintings as high-quality prints, offering clients a cost-effective and time-saving solution. Now, using ProCreate and Rebelle on his digital devices, Alex continues to produce artwork that is both precise and expressive, embodying his belief in letting "the paint be paint."
