My love of melancholy and chaotic energy has always influenced my work. I strive to create works that are either subtle and quietly contemplative, or loud and in your face.
My creative journey has taken me through many mediums. From digital, to photobashing, to physical, I always strive to make sure my intention comes through my work. I fell in love with digital artwork from my own career in graphic design. Between projects I found myself messing around in Illustrator and Photoshop. I was always trying to push those applications to their limits by making the most outlandish things.
I always find myself drawing busts or just faces in general. Even in my sketchbooks, I lean towards eyeballs, noses, and mouths. I have such a fascination with the human face, and I couldn't even tell you why. As humans we love to find faces in things, and I decided to start drawing those faces. I'll look at a concrete wall and find inspiration in all the little faces I can make out on it.
Growing up in the Midwest, I've been heavily inspired by the changing seasons, the animals you see wandering around, and the inescapable dread of suburbia. I believe there's a pull in the back of every Midwesterner's mind to be creative. We aren't afforded the beauty of mountains, the vastness of oceans. We escape into our own minds to beat the monotony of driving past your 12th corn field in a row. There's a beauty to having to make your own fun.
