The Pup Artist
Gates Mills, OH
Sonja Jones, an emerging artist with a lifelong passion for painting, has honed her skills in color and line work through decades of experience as a professional painter. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she developed a knack for faux painting techniques, signage, and murals, which eventually led her to transition to a "smaller" canvas after leaving the paint contracting business. Despite holding a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Oakland University, Sonja has no formal arts education. However, she credits workshops with watercolorists Valerie Tollover and David Rankin for helping her develop skills in that medium.
Currently in a stage of exploration and skill development with varied media, Sonja's work consistently centers around the natural world and our connection to it. Believing that nature has a healing power that brings us closer to the divine, she draws inspiration from the flora and fauna of the Midwest, where she has lived in Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio. Splitting her time between Ohio and Arizona, Sonja's artwork reflects the beauty and tranquility of these diverse landscapes.
For those looking to bring a touch of nature into their homes or offices, Sonja's prints are the perfect choice for home and office decor. With a keen eye for capturing the essence of the natural world, her artwork is sure to add a sense of peace and harmony to any space.
