After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Montana State University in 1987, the artist was awarded the "Outstanding Art Student Scholarship" from the same institution. Choosing Bozeman and Montana State as their art school was a decision made out of a sense of security, as Polson was their first home in America and Portland their first experience of a big city in the country. Working in a lumberyard near Portland for a year and a half after dropping out of Engineering school at MSU led them to realize their true passion and talent lay in drawing.
The artist's journey to add color to their drawings began before the digital age, when painting was the only option available. Montana State University served as a hub for modern abstract expressionism, where the artist's talent was recognized by winning the award for best student in their senior year, as determined by the faculty. Surprisingly, the artist discovered their ability to draw at the age of 19 while on barracks guard duty during their time in the US Army, recovering from an injury.
Surviving a car wreck on their first day in Oregon and coming close to death while working on an oil rig in Wyoming were just some of the obstacles the artist faced on their path to pursuing their passion for drawing. Despite the challenges they have encountered, the artist continues to create beautiful and meaningful pieces of art that showcase their unique talent and perspective. Their prints are perfect for adding a touch of creativity and inspiration to any home or office decor.
