Author. Artist. Musician. Exceedingly Reluctant Animator. Terminal Eccentric. Middling Adventurer. Stationary Supply Enthusiast. Chaotic Gardener.
Currently, I am working on a series of “gesture portraits.” I set the essential lines of a gesture or movement — for example, a person reaching to embrace a cat, as in “Forever Friends” — and then illustrate a character around that. The originals (and limited handmade copies) are done in ink on shikishi boards and detailed in mica (gold). Digital prints are done on fine art paper without the gold detailing. (If printing technology advances so that it becomes possible, I would love to be able to offer that.)
I am a graduate of Southern Oregon University (Bachelor of Art in Theater) in Ashland, Oregon; the London Film School (Filmmaking) in London, United Kingdom; and Gnomon School of Visual Effects (Computer Animation) in Los Angeles, California. I have three books of a contemporary fantasy series published so far, and I hope to continue writing while I also use paper and ink to create visual works.
