Linda Cavanaugh embarked on her artistic journey in 2001, transitioning from a career in Silicon Valley to the role of a stay-at-home wife and mother. Initially focusing on still life and landscape painting, she later sought out a more challenging endeavor in botanical art and illustration. Enrolling in classes at the Mary L. Harden School of Botanical Illustration, located at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, she honed her skills under the expert guidance of Ms. Harden. By 2006, Linda had delved into pen and ink, marking a significant milestone in her artistic development.
In 2007, Linda Cavanaugh proudly displayed her work at Alcatraz Island as part of her Master of Botanical Art certification. Since then, she has showcased and sold her botanical artwork across the Pacific Northwest, participating in various exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Helen Crocker Russell Library of Horticulture and the Conservatory of Flowers. Her contributions to the Marin Cancer Institute, Bolinas Gallery, and the US Army Core of Engineers Bay Model Visitor's Center have garnered recognition and support for her artistic endeavors. Notably, her painting of the exquisite Blue Agave was featured in the Intoxicating Plants exhibit at the UCSF Faculty Alumni House and acquired by Mission Bay Hospitals in July 2014.
When reflecting on her work, Linda expresses a deep connection to the plant life she portrays. She believes botanical art is a means of narrating the life story of each plant, capturing the beauty of every stage from bud to spent leaf. Through her art, Linda strives to convey this beauty to others, fostering an appreciation for the intricate details of nature. For those looking to add a touch of natural elegance to their spaces, Linda Cavanaugh's botanical prints are a perfect choice for home and office decor.
