Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Mark Goodhew now resides in LaGrange, Indiana. He discovered his passion for photography while studying graphic design and art at Ball State University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and a minor in marketing. After working in his family's NAPA Auto Parts business, Mark rediscovered his love for photography when he purchased his first digital camera in 2007, continuing to develop his digital imagery ever since.
Mark's photography is a blend of technology and artistry, with a focus on enhancing colors and contrasts to create what he refers to as "Photo Paintings". His inspiration often comes from the natural beauty of the outdoors, capturing landscapes and waterscapes that lean towards "Abstract Impressionism" in style. While some of his photos may appear more like abstract paintings from a distance, the presence of nature is always felt within his work.
Mark's process involves capturing intriguing photos and then manipulating them using computer software to enhance their potential. He often layers portions of the same photo, manipulating and enhancing effects to create unique and abstract designs. His latest direction involves focusing on smaller areas of his photographs, cropping and combining them to create even more abstract compositions.
