Mark Goodhew, originally from South Bend, Indiana, currently resides in LaGrange, Indiana. He first discovered his love for photography while studying graphic design and art at Ball State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design with a minor in marketing. After graduation, Mark worked in his family's NAPA Auto Parts business, initially as the marketing and advertising director, and now as the VP of warehouse operations and purchasing. It wasn't until he purchased his first digital camera in 2007 that he rekindled his passion for photography, leading him to continuously explore and develop his digital imagery.
Mark's photography journey began with traditional film and darkroom techniques, but he has since embraced the possibilities of digital photography. He enjoys experimenting with technology to enhance and manipulate his photos, creating what he calls "Photo Paintings". His work often leans towards "Abstract Impressionism", capturing the natural beauty of landscapes and waterscapes. While some photos may require minimal editing to showcase nature's beauty, others are transformed into vibrant, abstract paintings through digital manipulation.
His unique approach to photography involves viewing his images from a distance to appreciate the intricate details and artistic elements within the "Photo Paintings". Mark's creative process involves post-picture editing to bring out hidden colors and textures captured by the camera. By layering and manipulating different parts of a single photo, he transforms his images into captivating and abstract designs. His recent focus on abstract photography showcases his evolving artistic vision and innovative techniques.
