Growing up in Northern Oregon, the artist spent their youth exploring open fields and building forts in the dense surrounding forests. Their love for storytelling, imagination, and creating with their hands was evident from a young age. As they began to translate their creative ideas onto paper, memories of their imaginary adventures fueled their desire to share these ideas with others. This led them to pursue artistic studies in Southern California, where they graduated with Honors of Distinction from the Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Illustration, receiving a formal education in traditional realist art and visual storytelling.
After graduation, the artist delved into the commercial illustration market, running a successful business for over fifteen years. Working with renowned clients such as Mattel, Leap Frog, Scholastic, and Warner Bros, they honed their skills and contributed to projects like the visual development for the first Harry Potter movie. Despite their growth as an artist during this time, they felt a longing for the freedom to create personal art. In 2010, they made the decision to step away from commercial illustration work to focus on developing their own voice and body of work.
A decade later, their passion for the imaginary wilds remains strong, influencing their art as they strive to capture the essence of varied experiences in nature.
