Born in Columbus, Ohio, Lauren Luna's passion for art led her to pursue a degree in painting from Kent State University’s School of Fine Arts. After graduating, she made the move to New York City where she quickly learned the challenges of being a young artist. Teaching Special Education for the New York City schools and earning a Master’s degree from Manhattan College kept her busy, causing her to put art on the back burner. However, a local arts festival reignited her artistic flame, prompting her to enroll in the Academy of Art University for a second Master’s degree in Fine Arts.
Represented by a local gallery in Ohio, Luna began showing her work independently at various events nationally. She also became involved in organizations such as the Ohio Art League, the Simon-Kenton Boyscouts, and the Bicentennial Art Committee of Columbus. Her dedication to the arts led to recognition in the Who’s Who of Black Columbus 2010, as well as features in numerous publications and news telecasts. In 2011, Luna made the decision to relocate to Houston, Texas, where she believed there were more opportunities for professional artists to thrive.
Since moving to Houston, Lauren Luna has dedicated herself to her career as a full-time artist and footwear designer. She has participated in various art shows locally, such as Houston Press’ Artopia, Midtown Art in the Park, and Bayou City Arts Festival. Luna's work has been recognized internationally, with features in British Vogue and Glamour Magazines, as well as having her shoe designs exhibited in the Grassi Museum in Germany. In 2014, she was honored with the Margot Siegel Award for Design by the Goldstein Museum, solidifying her place in the art and design world.
Lauren Luna's captivating paintings are now available for purchase as prints, perfect for adding a touch of artistic flair to any home or office decor. With a career filled with accolades and recognition, Luna continues to inspire future generations as a college art professor, sharing her knowledge and passion for the arts.
