Lan Lan Lau

Hong Kong

Hi everyone, I’m Lan Lan. I am a contemporary artist who was born in Hong Kong. I dropped out of medical school at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and studied fine arts at the same university due to my passion for art.

To expand my horizon, I pursued further studies at The University of Birmingham, U.S. Department of Arts and Design. After graduation, I worked in the U.S. and sold my paintings at different art fairs like Old Town Art Fair (Chicago, IL), Sunriver Art Fair (Sunriver, OR), Lakeshore Art Festival (Muskegon, MI), etc. with good sale results. I worked with a wide spectrum of media: pen and ink drawings, oil paintings, encaustic paintings, ceramics, mixed media sculpture, and Chinese calligraphy.

As I love animals especially dogs, I was involved in animal rescue in the U.S. and Mexico. I also like traveling to admire the beauty of the myriad of cultures, and that’s why I stayed for a while in Mexico where I felt at home and lived with rescued dogs in a place I made from an old bus in primitive conditions with no running water and power.

I am a playful and affectionate person. Art is in my genes as I started drawing since young. Unfortunately, this creative gift comes with the price tag of suffering from bipolar disorder that I have to deal with all these years. That’s why I am keen on raising awareness of mental wellbeing apart from animal protection.

I am happy to share more about myself and therefore you can reach me by email at Thank you for reading my bio.
