Katie Kidwell, also known as Katie the Cariboo Song Rider, has been a successful stage and recording artist, children's entertainer, and published poet throughout her career. Hailing from the Cariboo Region of British Columbia, Katie has a deep connection to cowboy and native culture, which is reflected in her shows and productions. Recently, she has returned to her passion for painting and illustration, using these mediums to bring her poetry and stories to life.

In 2017, Katie introduced a unique form of art show at Parkside Gallery titled "The Little Birds That Fly." This exhibit showcased her bird paintings, poetry, stories, and music all centered around a common theme. During the month-long exhibition, Katie held weekly gatherings at the gallery where patrons could enjoy impromptu music performances and discussions with the artist. All of the paintings were given away for free to those who could provide a reason why they were the "good home" for a particular piece.

By the end of the exhibition, Katie had given away eighteen works of art, receiving numerous heartfelt submissions from attendees. Parkside Gallery also benefited from a generous donation from the artist, highlighting Katie's commitment to supporting the local arts community. As Katie likes to say, "Life is a full-time creation journey," and she continues to create and share her work through her Singing Loon Studio. For those interested in adding Katie's unique and heartfelt prints to their home or office decor, prints are available for purchase.
