In the intricate tapestry of Justin W John’s creative mind, inspirations take shape as connections and transitions that his inquisitive and introspective nature sorts out. Interpersonal relationships, textual translations, and pixelated information form the evolving social normative models that make up our collective story. Through periods of reflection, dotted with synaptic firings and guided by the plasticity of mind and body, he navigates the kaleidoscope within which he works.
Born on the U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay in the Philippines in 1981, Justin W John’s artistic journey began on the East Coast in Virginia and Maryland. Pursuing his passion, he studied graphic design at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, earning his BFA in 2003 before venturing to Washington, D.C. to kickstart his career as a freelance graphic and web designer. Over time, his client list grew to include prestigious names like B.E.T., The Peace Corps, and McGraw-Hill Publishing, while also immersing himself in D.C.’s vibrant music scene and holding creative roles in the retail industry.
In 2014, Justin made the decision to move cross-country to Boise, Idaho, to be closer to his mother. Nestled in the historic Idanha Hotel, he now calls Boise home, dividing his time between creating in his studio and visiting his father in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His photos, born from a blend of diverse experiences and influences, offer a unique perspective that can breathe life into any home or office space. With a range of prints available for purchase, Justin W John’s work invites you to bring a touch of his creative vision into your everyday surroundings.
