Jay Fullmer, an artist and illustrator hailing from Wisconsin, holds an MFA in traditional illustration. With over two decades of experience under his belt, Jay has dedicated his career to illustrating stories from the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon. His journey began in 2004 with the release of Book of Mormon Battles, a card game that quickly became the best-selling LDS game of all time. Following the success of the card game, Jay ventured into creating a chess set and another card game. However, it was during this period that he started to contemplate the stories he wanted to convey and the visual narrative he wanted to craft of the ancient Americans' world.
In 2009, Jay embarked on a two-year, full-time endeavor to develop Other Heroes of the Book of Mormon, which was eventually released in 2011. This project allowed Jay to produce a plethora of paintings and illustrations that shed light on lesser-known figures within the pages of the Book of Mormon. It is these artworks that now form the majority of the collection showcased in this gallery. Since joining the Church Education System in 2012, Jay has been actively creating content for YouTube on his Fullmer Gems channel, using his art as a tool to teach scripture. Most of his paintings are meticulously crafted using traditional oils on panel or board, showcasing his dedication to the craft.
