David Lawrence Alpha, born in 1951, is a painter and printmaker hailing from SW Louisiana with over 50 years of artistic experience. Having studied under Elemore Morgan at USL and continued his education at The University of New Orleans, David has traveled extensively throughout the USA, Mexico, Europe, Egypt, and Japan, showcasing his works in various prestigious locations such as Paris, New York, Dallas, and along the Gulf Coast. Despite his travels, David has spent the majority of his life in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he has focused on carpentry, family, and immersing himself in the local arts scene.
As a figurative expressionist, David draws inspiration from nature, creating vibrant and emotionally-charged paintings and prints. His landscape paintings in oil and acrylic on board and canvas, as well as his woodcut prints on cloth paper or canvas, reflect his deep connection with the natural world. He believes that Giclée prints are the perfect medium to capture the intricacies of wood grain and brush strokes, allowing for a rich and detailed representation of his work. Through his art, David aims to capture the essence of life as a constantly changing yet infinitely diverse source of inspiration.
Currently showcasing his work at the Ellis Motel in RoundTop, Texas, and Whoojoo Glass and Gallery in downtown Lafayette, David Lawrence Alpha's prints are the perfect addition to any home or office decor. With his unique blend of intense colors and subtle nuances, his art offers a visual journey through nature and the human experience. Don't miss the opportunity to bring a piece of David's artistic vision into your space.
