David Alpha Fine Art
St. Martinville, LA

David Lawrence Alpha, born in 1951, is a painter and printmaker hailing from Southwest Louisiana with over 50 years of experience in the art world. He honed his craft under the tutelage of Elemore Morgan at USL and furthered his studies at The University of New Orleans. Throughout his career, he has traveled extensively, showcasing his works in various cities across the USA, Mexico, Europe, Egypt, and Japan. While he has exhibited his pieces in renowned art hubs like Paris, New York, and Dallas, Alpha has primarily focused on the Lafayette, Louisiana area, where he has been actively involved in the local arts scene.

The artist's creations draw inspiration from nature, reflecting his background as a Figurative Expressionist with a penchant for landscape painting in oil and acrylic on board and canvas. Alpha's woodcut prints are equally captivating, originating on cloth, paper, or canvas. He values the intricate details captured in the Giclée' print medium, which allows for the preservation of wood grain textures and brush strokes. Through his use of intense colors as an emotional conduit, Alpha creates vibrant and nuanced depictions of space, conveying the ever-changing yet constant essence of life.

With a belief that nature and humanity are interconnected sources of inspiration, Alpha crafts visual statements that capture the essence of his surroundings. His artwork reflects the diversity and fluidity of life, encapsulating the beauty found in everyday moments. For individuals seeking to enhance their home or office decor with unique and evocative pieces, Alpha's prints are a compelling choice. Explore his collection at the Ellis Motel in RoundTop, Texas, and the Whoojoo Glass and Gallery in downtown Lafayette.
