Kate Morozova is a self-taught watercolor artist, with a passion for wildlife art. She currently resides in California, United States, but has called many places home in the past, including Russia, France, Germany and eastern United States. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Kate is also a professional scientist working for the state of California in endangered species permitting and policy. Her education in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and professional expertise shapes her perception of the natural world around her, and introduces a level of biological accuracy not often seen outside textbook illustrations.
Her works range from photorealistic to whimsical, striving for biological, ecological, and behavioral accuracy. In creating art, her goal is to help people discover something new, beautiful and unexpected about species of conservation concern and California native ecosystems; really see them as part of their world, not as statistics on a screen. We cannot protect what we do not hold dear.
