Born in 1989, Cody TheCreative was raised in suburban New York, where his passion for art began at the young age of two. Throughout his early childhood, he was rarely seen without a pencil in hand, drawing his favorite characters from paused VHS tapes, album covers, and baseball cards. By the age of eight, Cody had already held a solo exhibition in Greenburgh, NY titled, Heroes and Icons.
Rather than conforming to societal norms, Cody chose to embrace his individuality and explore his creativity during his preadolescent and adolescent years. Although he momentarily strayed from art, he found his way back while pursuing a Creative Writing degree at SUNY Purchase. Taking a life-drawing course with Roger Hendricks reignited his passion for art, leading him to become a teacher's assistant and later expanding his horizons through a summer class with landscape artist Todd J. Gordon.
In his late twenties, Cody delved into abstract expressionism, discovering new techniques and a fresh vocabulary to explore. His approach to learning new techniques involves gaining control to then break the rules and push boundaries, leading to the creation of various projects such as Just an Easel and a Dream, PennyPopArt, Cody's Wearable Art, and Splattered Skies.
Cody TheCreative's unique process and commitment to individuality have resulted in a diverse body of work that is perfect for home and office decor.
