Playful Aspirations
Jamesville, NY
When their first-born child reached 18 months old, they found themselves searching for a wholesome activity to enjoy together. Realizing that most of their entertainment was screen-based, they decided to purchase an adult coloring book to work on while their little one scribbled in their own book. Despite not having any prior experience with art, as an engineer who had chosen band over art in school, they quickly fell in love with transforming a blank page into a colorful illustration during moments of peace in their otherwise chaotic life as a new parent.
As their children grew older, their coloring skills improved significantly. After completing a particularly challenging coloring page, they felt inspired to create their own artwork. The portraits they created were deeply personal and meaningful, reflecting their own passions and interests. As a parent who often sacrificed their own hobbies and interests for their children, their art became a way to hold onto the adventurous spirit they once had, with illustrations of skiing and biking serving as a reminder of the adventures they longed to experience again.
Despite the challenges of parenting, they found immense joy in developing their artistic skills and creating pieces that resonated with them on a personal level. Stepping away from screens and dedicating time to honing their craft brought them more satisfaction than any video game ever could. Their artwork not only provided a creative outlet but also served as a promise of future adventures they could share with their children as they grew older. These prints, inspired by their own fantasies and experiences, are now available for purchase to bring a touch of adventure and creativity to any home or office decor.
