After facing a near-death experience while on vacation in the spring of 2019, this artist felt compelled to make a change in their life. At the age of 41, they decided to pursue their lifelong dream of performing stand-up comedy, despite struggling with severe social anxiety. Through self-reflection, they discovered that they were neurodivergent, which had hindered them from reaching their full potential since childhood.
Despite overcoming their anxiety to perform stand-up comedy several times in the fall of 2019, the artist realized that their chronic pain was a barrier to pursuing their passion on a regular basis. After years of searching for answers, they were diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic disorder with no cure or treatment. This setback led them to explore their creativity in other ways during the lockdown, turning to photography and digital art as an outlet.
During this time, the artist created thousands of surreal images by digitally altering photographs taken with their phone. Each piece explores juxtaposition and symmetry to distort perceptions and create a new perspective, aiming to trigger a state of neuroplasticity in the viewer's mind. This collection represents some of their favorite works, reflecting their journey of self-discovery and creative exploration.
For those looking to add a touch of uniqueness to their home or office decor, prints of the artist's photography and digital artwork pieces are available for purchase. Embrace the beauty of distortion and new perspectives in your space with these captivating pieces.
