A.Vonn Hartung has dedicated his life and art to a search for the spiritual dimensions of human nature as well as God’s beauty revealed in Creation. Through his paintings, woodcarvings, prints, portraits, serigraphs, and murals, he seeks to reveal the Light within that emanates and enriches our lives.
A.Vonn Hartung is a renowned artist, primarily a painter and wood sculptor, specializing in Catholic Sacred Art and has resided in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico since 1984. Throughout his career, he has installed over 200 works of art in churches across Puerto Rico, the United States and even at the Vatican. One of his most significant accomplishments is the official portrait of Blessed Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, which was commissioned by Monsignor Archbishop Roberto Gonzalez Nieves in 2001 and is displayed at the Pontifical North American College at the Vatican.
Vonn’s original paintings of the Via Lucis (14 Stations of the Resurrection) have been installed at the National Cathedral in San Juan. He has had a one-man exhibit at the State Department of Puerto Rico during the 40 days of Lent, and a 3-month Exhibit at the opening of the new Bellas Artes Center in Guaynabo, as well as two Exhibits at the Universidad del Este, Ana G. Mendez in Carolina Puerto Rico.
In his non-commissioned work, he is working on a series of paintings and carvings pertaining to God's Creation and our response to Climate Change as called for in Pope Francis' Encyclical— Laudato Si'.
