Aesthete by Anika Nitia
Highland Falls, NY
Born in Bangladesh, raised in NYC. My inspiration comes from the depths of my experiences growing up in a vibrant city. By blending my own culture’s radiance with the environment l was given, I'm able to paint unique perspective for you.
I was raised by a working class immigrant family living in the inner city of Queens, NY. My family did their best to show me the world with what little means we had. They took me to all the free museums the city had to offer. All I knew of nature came from trips to Central Park and the East River. I had the privilege of watching. birds build nests on our third floor apartment window sills. And the sunset views from our fire escape overlooking the manhattan skyline were unmatched. While my mind grew into the city I love, my family kept our Bengali culture in my heart. My art reflects the vibrance of my ancestral lands entwined with my past, present, and hopeful future.
I am currently living in the beautiful Hudson Valley, with my husband, two children, and two cats. My favorite part of my home is my studio, conveniently located next to my second favorite part of my home- the kitchen.
