Micro-Art Rotifer #2

Art Science By Zeta Angelich

Rotifers, what's not to love? Pretty much the earliest animal with all the architecture to take them to being humans. A mouth, an eye, an intestinal tract, even a primitive kidney. I've loved them since I first saw them as a teenager through my microscope and was captivated by the beautiful beating of the cilia hairs on one end. These bring the bacteria and small protozoa that they live on. Small? Yes, the biggest might be seen as a speck in clear water with the right light. Not for the naked eye. No, no, it must be clothed with magnification. 100X, 200X. works very well. The holdfast on their other end attaches them to things so they can feed at their leisure. And then they move on.
