Guns don’t kill people...people do. That’s my inspiration. Everything about this image defies reason. Women in evening wear usually don’t kill people with guns. In fact, they don’t usually kill people. Flowers signify growth. Out of 182 mass shooters in the United States since 1966, four of them were women. The intractability of gun reform combined with the rise in deadly mass shootings in the past two decades is a tragedy. There are literally more guns than people in this country. The idea that guns don’t kill people is ludicrous. Therefore I created a work of art that matches the moment. The question still remains, could the woman in the artwork kill you without a gun? Yes, she could. However, you would have a chance to live.
