SAVAGE is my way of showing the underlying anger that many women feel in the less sensational moments where injustice lives. We can’t be angry, but we are. A female figure in a blue dress is overlaid on a shooting target. She points a gun towards the viewer as seen in most standard shooting targets. The woman in formal wear, against a rich blue background, suggests invisibility. The monochromatic foreground/background color causes a dissonance when combined with the repeated text image of the word, “SAVAGE” which typically negatively describes people considered to be “uncivilized.” I hope people will consider the consequences of pervasive sexism in society and how that impacts each of us individually.
