Behind The Stems - Original Photography By Karol Livote This was captured in Beardsley Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Mallard - is a very common duck of lakes and ponds. Will also be seen along the coast. They like to feed on aquatic insects, seeds, and plants. The female is an all brown duck with an orange and black bill. There is small blue and white wings. The male has a large bulbous green head with a white necklace. They have a yellow bill, legs and feet. Their chest is a rust brown or a chestnut color. There is a combination of white and gray on sides. The Mallard does migrate to southern states, however, some do not.
