This is a painting based on a photograph of Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park. In 1836, the building served as the headquarters for General Vallejo's vast cattle rancho. It was about 66,000 acres (100 square miles) with 600-2,000 workers, 25,000 head of cattle, 3,000 sheep, and many crops.
