Castel Sant'Angelo and Tiber at Dusk

Cities and Towns By Eric Winkler

The Castel Sant'Angelo and the Ponte Sant'Angelo reflect in the Tiber as darkness falls on Rome. The Castel was erected by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in AD 134-139 as a family tomb. The bridge provided a grand approach to the tomb from the center of Rome. This image was taken from the Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II, the next bridge downstream on the Tiber.
