The Shoes on the Danube

Views of the Danube By Bryan O'sullivan

A memorial dedicated to the Jewish people who lost their lives in World War 2. There are dozens of pairs of metal shoes installed along the east bank of the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. Jewish people were lined up on the bank and ordered to take off their shoes, then were massacred by the fascist Hungarian militia.
