Across the California landscape you will find these majestic valley oak trees. This one we found on a stretch of road between Interstate 5 and Barstow, CA. The landscape was a sea of rolling hills, light yellow/brown grass. It probably looked much like this before the first settlers moved through a couple hundred years ago.
