Embedding the Sword in the Stone

Myths at McConnell Springs By Shylo Silvenar

Series: Myths at McConnell Springs Title: Embedding the Sword in the Stone Subtitle: And the Lady Sets the Key to a Future Destiny in Stone. Location: Scene photographed at McConnell Springs Park in Lexington, Kentucky. The subject was photographed in a studio. Project Dates: September 2020 - September 2021 McConnell Springs (https://mcconnellsprings.org/) is a special place for me. It was shown to me by two people I greatly respect as a place where I could go to recharge and be in a little bit of nature. It's such a hidden gem. The history behind it is rich, and the park is beautiful. If you're ever in the area of Lexington, Kentucky I highly recommend stopping by. This image was taken at a hill in the park with a large stone. The stone was the catalyst for reimagining the ancient legend of the sword in the stone and telling of the moment that fate might have been forged. The brighter coloring of this image is meant to evoke feelings of creation, and a sense of divine intervention. In the grander story of this series, this image gives a sense of forging fate for future generations. For me personally, I believe this image reflects the part of me forging a greater path for my future self, and perhaps the warmth I feel from knowing that I have the power to shape my own destiny.
