During seedpod season, I am often reminded of the natural cycle where one life fades away, making room for another to emerge, ensuring continuity. In this process, nature has achieved not only immortality but also rejuvenation through reproduction. While everything is transient and ephemeral, the essence of life remains unaltered—an intrinsic life force that permeates all living beings. The Common Yellow Day Lily, scientifically known as Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus, thrives abundantly in the UC Davis Arboretum, showcasing its vibrant blooms during the spring and summer seasons. However, as winter arrives, the flowers gracefully transform into seedpods, harboring striking red seeds that hold the promise of the next generation's growth and vitality.
