Hens and Chicks, 2022

3. Succulent leaf By Alessandra Chaves

Hens and chicks receive their name because of the rosette shape of their leaves and habit, and the plant's ability to produce numerous "babies." When I saw the green hens and chicks growing in the arboretum garden, and noticed that the edge of the leaves reflects more light than their center, I envisioned this black and white image that emphasizes the outer glow of the marginal edges of this succulent plant.
