Tulip love, 2023

7. Color By Alessandra Chaves

These two tulips seemed be having a conversation of sorts inside the same flowerpot. Tulips symbolize perfect love, owing to Turkish and Persian legends about the love between Farhad and Shirin. In one version of the story, Farhad, who was a prince, fell in love with a beautiful girl named Shirin. Shirin was murdered and in despair Farhad rode his horse off a cliff. Where his blood touched the ground, a red tulip grew. The name Tulip comes from the Persian word for turban, because in full bloom tulips have a turban-like shape.
