Calochortus amabilis, Golden Fairy Lantern

7. Color By Alessandra Chaves

Spring is the time to photograph the Golden Fairy Lantern in the UC Davis' Stebbins Cold Canyon. In this photo, I used a flash to obtain the black background effect in the field. Calochortus amabilis is endemic to California. This wildflower is a common member of the scrub and woodland flora, found on dry slopes in oak woodland and chaparral.
