As a transplanted Yooper, I always look forward to our oft-annual journey to downtown Grand Rapids in mid-January for the Michigan Music Conference. It's a good reminder of why I live where I do. But also, a reminder that there are other types of beauty and majesty, and that some of those things were made by mankind, as was the Civic Auditorium (construction of which was completed in 1932).
