Oil and Vinegar Bottles (Version 2)

This is a new, second version of the painting, “Oil and Vinegar Bottles.” The original one is actually the first of the series of pastel paintings that the artist have created since September of 2021. It is a still life painting of kitchen condiments (oil and vinegar), along with other miscellaneous things such as the salt shaker, the flower pot, and the pendulum clock, surrounded by the blue background (shown on the original version). Recently, the artist has decided to do a quick redesign of the painting by getting rid of the plain blue wall and replacing it with something more interesting. The second version now shows a large open window overlooking an Italian-style scenery of orange roof-tiled houses and apartment buildings. On the right half-side of the background shows a red brick wall with orange and brown highlights where the pendulum clock is displayed. The color red was selected for the wall because this warm color entices our appetite for food, as the artist have learned from taking art and graphic design classes years ago. This painting was created to be displayed either in the kitchen or the dining room part of the house where people usually eat. In addition, you can also find in the artwork some references to names, characters, and places that are inspired from the Netflix historical fiction series, "The Last Kingdom," which the artist had admitted to be a true fan of.
