As the final prophet and record-keeper of a once great nation in the ancient Americas, Ether had the sober responsibility to witness and record the destruction of his people. This sacred record, written on 24 plates of gold, was hidden up but eventually found and translated by the Nephite people. The record became a light and warning to the Nephites of the blessings lost when God’s people rebel against him. This painting celebrates a spiritual treasure hidden away because of wickedness but found again to bring light to those who would receive it.
