When Amulek invited the prophet Alma to stay at his home in Ammonihah, he could not have known the path his life would take or the blessings and costs to him and his family. Disciples of Jesus Christ have always been asked to take up the cross when they follow him and perhaps Amulek thought this responsibility would mostly be shouldered by him as he choose to preach with Alma. Because of his testimony of Jesus Christ, Amulek’s friends, kindred and father rejected him but his wife and children stood by their faith. Due to the cruelty of the leaders in Ammonihah, this testimony would lead to the death of all the women and children who were believers and would not deny that Jesus was the Christ.
