The Runaway Bunny

Watercolors By Ian J. Newbury

Westerly Rhode Island's Public Library and Wilcox Park are national treasures for many reasons, least of which is the Library's collection of children's author Margaret Wise Brown's letters and artwork. In honor of the celebrated author, the Library commissioned Rhode Island based sculptor Joan Binney Ross in the late 1990s to create a sculpture of Ms. Wise Brown's most celebrated creation, "The Runaway Bunny". The bronze sculpture is an integral part of the park, and favorite destination for young children visiting the park. Ian created a watercolor of the sculpture to commemorate the Library's 125th Anniversary in 2017.
