Bali Tiger

By Francine Fox

This exuberant digital painting by Francine Fox glows with rich tropical color. The Bali Tiger is an extinct subspecies of tigers that once lived on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Fox states “After finishing a realistic rendering of the tiger, I digitally duplicated the image and stacked it on top of the original. I then ‘stretched’ the skin of the tiger out and pulled it into interesting shapes to create the swirling patterns you see here. I thought the process behind these distortions was an interesting way to reference how tiger hides are stretched and also to allude to human presence as a major factor in these tigers’ extinction.” For high resolution images and detail shots, please visit www.francinefox.net.
