Chaney Flower, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Sea Glass & Pottery By Emily St. Amant

This painting was inspired by a piece of broken pottery I found on the west end of the island of St. Croix. “Chaney” is the term once used by children to describe the broken pottery pieces they found and shaped into round tokens to use as play money. To this day, St. Croix locals call the pottery found on land and in the surrounding waters “Chaney.” The original watercolor painting is by Emily St. Amant, completed in 2023. ~~~ Products in additional sizes, materials, and item types are available.
