87. Carols Pitcher

Donald Hazen Brown Archive By Don Brown

2006 This still life was inspired by a lovely white Pfaltgraph Iron Stone pitcher and side dish. After an initial realistic sketch of the pitcher, I used the still life arrangement to paint an imaginative interpretation of the pitcher, side dish and fruit, incorporating new colors and a slightly re-arranged setting. As a painter has the freedom to re-arrange his painting, so we have the freedom to change our lives and re-arrange them to make them more colorful and pleasing. No one is ever bound by the present. That is a coveted dimension of being human.
