36 Rockland Lake Trees

Donald Hazen Brown Archive By Don Brown

Looking through a book on the paintings of Matisse moved me to boldly paint with color and line. Abandoning any attempt to realistically portray these trees on the shore of Rockland Lake, I used them to simply create a pattern of line and color. Being open to the influences of others is a freeing experience. It is an opportunity to discover different dimensions of yourself.
